I loved this poem as a child, at a time that I felt free to express creative self. Somewhere along the line I learned to supress my artistic side in order to forge my way down a safe road, earning a degree that would give me access to a stable career with good benefits in the corporate world. After spending ten years in a career that brought me very little joy, I met an artist who inspired me to see another path, and my husband gave me the courage to take it. Reading this poem again reminds me that I am pursuing what I am innately drawn to do, and gives me the motivation to continue. Thank you for posting it, and for sharing your journey!
